Referee Recruitment and Points
Each U10-U14 team is required to earn 24 points over a 14-week period in order to qualify for Area Playoffs. Any team that fails to reach those requirements may not be allowed to advance to Area Playoffs, regardless of how the team placed during the regular season.
Each U-8 team is required to recruit 1 new referee, Youth or Adult or 2 new linesmen to be able to participate in the U-8 Jamboree Tournament. Each of the new referees must referee a minimum of 6 games. These new referees are encouraged to referee U-8 games but can also referee at any level and in any position for which they are qualified.
The age required for a youth referee to officiate at U8 is 12 years old
NOTE – The maximum number of points a team can earn each weekend is 3 points.

Recruitment Incentive – A team that recruits ANY new referees, Youth or Adult can receive 4 bonus points for each new referee. To earn these bonus points the new referee must complete the referee training and referee 6 games during the regular season. NOTE - only 1 game per week will count in fulfilling the 6 games that are required for the bonus points. The new referee will also accumulate the points for the games refereed as well.
Ages for youth referees must be TWO years older than the division that the Youth referee will be officiating
U10 the youth referee must be 12 years old
U12 the youth referee must be 14 years old
U14 the youth referee must be 16 years old
All Referees, regardless of team affiliation, must designate which team their points will be assigned to prior to Saturday, September 19th. New referees will be given 2 weeks to assign their points to a team after being certified. There are several Referee training options available below. Please be aware of these dates as you begin recruiting new referees from your parent group.
Any points earned by an unattached Referee (a Referee who does not designate a team to which their points are to be assigned) will be placed into a pool of points to be allocated at the end of the season. The Regional Commissioner will have the final decision on how “Pool” points are awarded and reserves the right to award these points as deemed appropriate.

Basic (Regional) Referee Courses:

Before you come to one of these Basic Referee courses, please complete the Referee Online Course and the Safe Haven Course at www.aysotraining.org. You will need to know your volunteer ID# to take the courses. You can get that from the eayso.org site.
